Weston Park Miniature Goats was established in 2014 with the acquisition of two Australian Miniature does. For the next six years we bred a small number of high grade Australian Miniatures and a few Pygmies before making the commitment to focus on Nigerian Dwarf goats. We are love the temperament, size, conformation and utility as a dairy breed of the Nigerian Dwarf - making them a truly versatile small breed of goat. We are now working with a small herd of our first homebred 50% ND does and will be welcoming 75% ND babies in 2022. We are also looking forward to 84-96% ND babies with our acquisition of three beautiful higher percentage does from Zodiac Mini Goats. We cannot thank Fe enough for entrusting us with these special girls. We will continue to increase our herd percentages until we are working with full blood Australian Nigerian Dwarf. We only use Full Blood bucks derived from 100% USA genetics.
Our aim has always been to maintain a relatively small herd of goats focusing on the quality of the animals rather than quantity. Our goats enjoy the open spaces of rural farm life with large paddocks of improved grazing pasture. Our does kid in the safety of stabled pens out of the elements and under full supervision. We ensure our babies spend their first few weeks of life with their mothers before being transitioned to bottles and at times doe raise our kids with daily human handling. We also keep one of our freshened does in with bottle babies as a guardian to provide a sense of safety, leadership and to teach them 'goat skills' which we as humans cannot provide them. Our kids are handled by adults and children and are very familiar with people which makes them ideal as pets or easy to handle as breeding or milking animals.
Our herd is treated regularly for both internal and external parasites and vaccinated with 5 in 1. We also annually test our herd for Johne's Disease (JD) and Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE).
